The Beach Hut @ Marine Cove

The beach hut is a casual bar and restaurant behind East Coast Parkway Recreation Centre with a resort like atmosphere facing the sea. Known for it’s local and western fare, the selection includes mee goreng, burgers, fish and chips, steaks, and more.

The Baby Back Ribs ($19.80) were tender, very tasty, fell off the bone easily and melted in our mouths. The half slab of ribs were nicely marinated and well seasoned with a traditional BBQ sauce. No complaints here, and from what I’ve heard, one of the better dishes on their menu.

The Norwegian Salmon Fillet ($18.80) was flaky but a little overdone. It was also over seasoned and too salty for my liking. I would have preferred my salmon a little pink and better seasoned so that it does not overpower the natural taste of the fish. On the other hand, the vegetables were tasteless with absolutly no seasoning at all. It tasted just right eating them together in a single mouthful. The baked potato was average and went well with the sourcream.

A big plus point for us though was that they are a dog-friendly establishment and our 2 dogs were allowed to chill out under the tables while we had our lunch. As a bonus, our dogs got to have an afternoon snack of rib bones. The bill came up to a hefty $60+ for lunch of the above dishes, a pint of beer, and a glass of coke. My ratings – Food: 6/10. Service: 7/10. Ambience: 6/10. Value for money: 4/10.
