Canopy Garden Dining & Bar @ Bishan Park

Canopy is the newest addition to the Asmara Group serving an Australian style café food complimented by a wide variety of new world wines. Canopy offers a unique dining experience in a peaceful garden setting providing the perfect getaway for families, couples and pet lovers alike. The Canopy Bar, located at Bishan Park, is the perfect place to lounge outdoors and enjoy a glass of wine with friends or share a plate of one of Canopy’s tapas specialties.

I had a Hoegaarden and the Braised Veal Cheek, a slow cooked veal cheek in red wine served with spring vegetables and crispy croutons on mashed potato. It was tender and tasty without being too much and the mash potato and asparagus were almost perfect. I did wish that the food would have been served hot – it was only luke warm and did not bring out the flavours fully.

Scott had a Stella Artois and the Chicken Parmigiana, an oven baked breaded chicken thigh top with tomato basil sauce, cheddar & parmesan served with fries & salad. The chicken was juicy and I like the fact that they left some fat on the meat. The sauce tasted a little like what you would get on a pizza – not something I would consider gourmet.

My ratings – Food: 7/10. Service: 7/10. Ambience: 9/10. Value for money: 4/10. The bill came up to about $82 for the 2 of us with a main course and a pint of beer each. More info about the place at www.canopydining.com.sg.
