Sentosa – Universal Studios Singapore

A theme park located within Resorts World Sentosa on Sentosa Island, Singapore. The park is 20 hectares (49 acres) in size with a total of 19 attractions in seven uniquely themed zones which surround a lagoon.

Each zone is based on a blockbuster movie or television show, featuring their own unique attractions, character appearances, dining and shopping areas. The park also includes about 30 restaurants and food carts together with 20 unique retail stores and carts located around the park.

You can enjoy the array of eating and shopping establishments and experience the distinctive Hollywood iconic architecture, the swaying palm trees and the famous Walk of Fame – you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped inside the centre of the entertainment universe! If time permits, also recommended is the 20 minute Monster Rock! shows that are being broadcasted at the Pantages Hollywood Theatre along this walkway.

You will spot the famous and cute Woody Woodpecker near the red popcorn cart visible from the entrance. Other attractive sights along this stretch of road include Marilyn Monroe, Beetle Juice, and Frankenstein. Always be prepared with your camera for the random character meet and greet sessions throughout the day.

The Lost World
This zone contains many traditional attractions present in most Universal Studios parks around the world and is divided into two sub areas: Jurassic Park and WaterWorld. Jurassic Park, based on the popular film franchise by Steven Spielberg and novels by Michael Crichton, features the newly redesigned Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure which is based on the popular Jurassic Park River Adventure attraction in other Universal Studios parks.

Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure – Featuring a white water raft system with state-of-the-art animatronics and a thrilling white water drop, thrill-seekers on circular rafts will be tossed on waterways within the Jurassic Park compound, where prehistoric creatures roam free. You may wish to get a poncho for $1.50 if you don’t wish to get drenched!

Canopy Flyer – Board your dino-proof flying vehicle as you enjoy a prehistoric bird’s eye view of Jurassic Park. We queued about an hour for this ride, but it was well worth the while :)

Amber Rock Climb – Scale the walls of The Lost World to explore precious stones and fossilized insects. It’s $10 per climb and is harder than it looks.

WaterWorld – Waterworld contains mainly water-based attractions and is based on the blockbuster film Waterworld starring Kevin Costner. Witness a tidal wave of death-defying stunts, along with thrills and spills from real explosions of fire and water at this sensational live water show. You can choose to get very wet, slightly wet, or toally dry for this experience.

Far Far Away
Far Far Away is inspired by DreamWorks Animation’s hit Shrek franchise which depicted how the fairy-tale characters lived in daily life. The zone consists of many recognizable locations from the film series such as Shrek’s swamp house as well as Far Far Away’s glamorous Romeo Drive which contains the nightspots of the town such as Hook’s Knight Club. The highlight of the zone is the Far Far Away Castle which is a world’s first. The castle hosts attractions such as Shrek 4-D and Donkey Live featuring the voice talents of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas and Cameron Diaz.

Shrek 4-D Adventure – Help save Princess Fiona in a totally “in your face” fairy tale adventure. Through the miracle of OgreVision you’ll see, hear, and actually feel the action right from your seat! Join Princess Fiona, Shrek and Donkey on a honeymoon adventure that picks up where the Oscar-winning movie “Shrek” left off, through an original 3-D film, complete with jumps, bumps, bounces, air blasts and water spray that bring the action to life for each guest, with an extra dimension of special effects through the miracle of OgreVision glasses.


Enchanted Airways – Guests of all ages climb aboard Donkey’s beloved Dragon for a flight over Far Far Away and beyond. At Enchanted Airways, a merry cast of fairy tale creatures, from the Three Little Pigs to the Big Bad Wolf, from Gingy to Pinocchio, forms part of a magical airline in the form of a junior coaster that serves destinations throughout the World of Shrek!

Donkey Live – Shrek’s fairy tale sidekick Donkey will bring the crowd to its feet in this all-new, one-of-a-kind, interactive live show experience, where guests sing along and even talk with Donkey in an intimate theatre setting.

Journey to Madagascar is inspired by the hit DreamWorks Animation franchise, Madagascar which featured four zoo animals escaping from the New York Zoo and unfortunately crashing onto the island of Madagascar. The zone features lush tropical jungles as well as two rides.

Move It! Move It! – If that sounds familiar to you, then do not miss the almost full cast of Madagascar in a short 10 minute dance performance. After which, you will get to have your picture taken with them individually. But beware of the long queues and the short times that they are out.

New York
The New York zone is based on the original New York City. This zone features various icons commonly portrayed in movies including the trademark city skyline, neon lights, facades, sidewalks as well as the romantic atmosphere of the Big Apple. To top all this off, this zone also have a replica of the famous New York Public Library with two lion statues at the entrance.

Lights, Camera, Action! – Be blown away by incredible special effects as an empty soundstage becomes the setting for a Category 5 major hurricane about to hit New York City. As you stand in a boathouse by the harbor, watch how a calm day suddenly turns stormy. Brace yourself as hurricane force winds sweep in from the sea and drive a cargo ship and debris towards the boathouse you’re in. Calm soon returns and the damaged boathouse restores itself, all thanks to movie magic.

Sci-Fi City
The Sci-Fi City is a real-life imagination of how a common metropolis of the future would look like containing the many modern conveniences of life as well as the remnants of past inhabitants and cultures which were once part of the city as well as international visitors from all over the world and other planets. The city is based on the popular television series, Battlestar Galactica, and features the world’s tallest Dueling roller coaster.

Accelerator – Test your intergalactic stamina and see if you can keep your wits about you while madly spinning on this whirling twirling attraction. It’s very much like the tea-cup rides you find in many amusement parks.

Battlestar Galactica – Engage in the ultimate intergalactic battle between good and evil on the world’s tallest dueling roller coasters. Themed after the hit television series Battlestar Galactica, the attraction asks riders to choose a side (Human or Cylon) and then experience intense aerial combat between two spacecraft. The Cylon Raider is a suspended roller coaster that will turn your world upside down as it runs through vertical loops, corkscrews and cobra rolls. The Human Viper Mark II is a seated roller coaster that zooms at 90km/h and propels you fourteen storeys into the air while pursuing the enemy. Riders on both coasters will experience unbelievable thrills as they twist, turn & narrowly avoid collision. This ride was not open when we were there.

Ancient Egypt
Ancient Egypt is based on the historical adaptation of Ancient Egypt during the 1930s Golden Age of Egyptian Exploration. It features obelisks and pyramids which are typical of Ancient Egypt. Also featured are Pharaohs’ tombs which were commonly discovered during that era.

Visitors take the role of a daring archaeologist who aims to unravel the riddles of the Sphinx in this sand-swept land. The area also relies on the depictions made in the popular film franchise, The Mummy, starring Brendan Fraser. 

Revenge of the Mummy – Plagued on all sides by huge fireballs, swarms of scarab beetles and an army of warrior mummies, all in total darkness. Remember to put all your bags and loose items in the lockers nearby! Can you survive the awesome power of Imhotep’s curse or will you be entombed inside forever?
